Topic: Investigating the Relationship Between Ambiguity Management and Stillbirth Experiences Among Labor and Delivery Nurses

This presentation will discuss findings from a survey developed to explore the factors involved in caring for a person experiencing a stillbirth from the perspective of labor and delivery (L&D) nurses. The survey was developed from the findings of a recent grounded theory study—Managing Ambiguity (Nurse-Clarke, 2020)—which identified a preliminary theory related to this social process. The theory underscored the need for emotional, institutional, and educational support for nurses working in L&D. The purpose of the study was to determine the validity of this model as an accurate description of the process of providing such care.
