Topic: Using Caring Theory to Enhance a Mother’s Care After Stillbirth

Those providing support to women experiencing a stillbirth strive to be a caring presence during this difficult time. Swanson’s middle-range theory of caring can provide a useful framework for healthcare providers. This presentation will provide an overview of Swanson’s Theory of Caring and demonstrate how it can be used to guide empathetic and compassionate care for bereaved families. Relevant research and evidence-based findings will be used to provide the groundwork for how the tenets of this theory can be implemented in a practical way.
