Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders: An Overview
This presentation will
- cover how to recognize the various aspects of a perinatal mood and anxiety disorders
- discuss signs and symptoms, risk factors, screening, components of recovery, and resources for these disorders.
Presenter: Birdie Meyer, RN, MA, PMH-C
Birdie Meyer is a registered nurse with a Master’s Degree in Psychology/Counseling. She specializes in the recognition and treatment of pregnancy and postpartum mood and anxiety disorders. Birdie is a past president for Postpartum Support International (PSI) and currently serves as the certification and education director for PSI. She is a Perinatal Mood Disorders International Trainer and speaks frequently at community events, nursing schools, grand rounds, and conferences.
Birdie is co-author of a book chapter in Behavioral Health Services with High-Risk Infants & Families, and she is highlighted as a perinatal mood disorder expert in Healthy Mom, Happy Family: Understanding Pregnancy and Postpartum Mood and Anxiety Disorders—a PSI video that is shown around the world.
