This in-depth training on caring for those grieving the death of child is formatted to accommodate busy schedules, allowing learners to complete the course at a pace that meets their needs. Developed from a recording of a live training event, this flexible course includes group and individual exploration of issues, reflections, and best practice both from experts and peers. Learners can come and go as needed without losing progress. Individual lessons (each 1 hour or less) make up the training, which totals 10-11 hours.
Lessons discuss the following topics:
- Theoretical frameworks and grief concepts
- Being in relationship
- Communication
- Decision-making
- Newborn death
- Caring for children who will die and their families
- Parents and family: preparing for death
- Ritual
- Bereaved children and teens
- Sudden, traumatic, and stigmatizing death
- Palliative and hospice care
- Preparing for end-of-life care
- Follow-up
- Supporting yourself and your colleagues
The course is available for 90 days after the enrollment date. Learners must complete the entire course curriculum (i.e., pre-training requirement, training) to be considered RTS trained. If the entire curriculum is not complete in the 90 days, learners who wish to be considered RTS trained must re-register.
